- Description
- This paper presents a strategy of online adaptive underfrequency load shedding with wide area measurement (WAM) of nodal market power assessment (NMPA) to minimize the inter-area power requirements by shedding load near to the source of generation-load imbalance in a deregulated power system connected to distributed generation (DG). Simplified frequency response model is used to estimate the frequency deviation by adjusting the system parameters under the effect of distributed generation. The amount of power supply at each bus is assessed by utilizing WAM of nodal market power assessment. Then priority of shedding load at various buses is determined to compare with mismatch power at different buses. Structure of proposed load-shedding scheme for distribution system is also illustrated. Finally, different underfrequency load shedding methods are simulated and their results are compared to show that the proposed decentralized underfrequency load shedding can improve the frequency deviation.
